Lately there are a lot of “kids” movies out there that just don’t seem as kid friendly as they seem on the commercials. My son will not watch most of them because the scary scenes are actually pretty scary, even for an adult. We have been to only 3 movies with him. He just doesn’t seem to like them. Even if the movie is really good he has a hard time sitting still.
Last week I as invited to and event to preview a new movie. I love going to review movies but this was a little different. It is called Oogielove in the BIG Balloon Adventure. It was a a great event where we got to talk to the producer Kenn Viselman, the head of Marketing Eileen Potrock and the writer for this movie Scott Stabile. I was totally intrigued by their frame of mind for a kids movie.
They wanted it to be completely different than anything out there. Where parents would not have to worry about if the next scene will be too scary for their young child. Their original idea was to do a live show so that kids could get up and dance around, then realized how expensive shows can be for parents and decided to make it in to a movie instead. This movie (I will review at a later date by the way) is very intereactive. They WANT your children to get up and dance during the movie.
They were showing us the Ooogielove dance which was SO cute!
They wanted to show to be TRUELY G rated. Why does there have to a bad guy and a good guy? Why can’t it just be kids going in an adventure getting their balloons back no terrible plot just light hearted and fun. Kenn said he tried to get Hollywood to let them give it a GGG rating but was shot down fast! They now use that as their hashtag. You can follow them on twitter here and follow their #GGG on twitter for all the fun.
One of the biggest things that impressed me the most is how passionate they are about changing the movie industry for kids movies. Their concern was genuine and want us mom’s, dads, caregivers or anyone to do with kids to make hollywood listen. They call it the “Power of Mom”. We need to tell those on charge in hollywood we want fun movies not scary movies for our children to watch.
Want to know more go to their website where they have a ton of fun contests going on and of course follow them on Facebook too. The movie comes out on Oogust 29 (love how they did that). Make sure you take you little one to see it. They will have a blast!

I can’t wait to check out this film with my almost 3-year-old daughter! I saw the preview and thought it looked really neat. I love that the filmmakers are out to transform children’s films. We definitely need more G-rated films for our kids to enjoy! My daughter asks to go to the movies all the time, but there’s hardly anything I can take her to.
This one is worth it. The kids are supposed to dance and sing almost all the way through the movie! It is very interactive! All the kids at my preview were SO excited and happy to do this!

I LOVE this! My kids love watching movies, but they’re so easily frightened that a lot of times we end up having to turn it off before it’s over. It’s good to see someone making a truly fun G rated movie.

This movie is one you will not need to worry about at all. Lots of songs and lots of dancing.
