There will be a ton of people out there that will have a post of today about September 11 2001 but I think there should be. The intentions of the terrorist was to splinter us apart. The more we remember the better it shows we are all really closer and we will stand together and defend our boarders no matter what side of the political fence we are on.
So I will remember that day forever, stand up with my fellow Americans and make sure they know they were not successful!
I know most people have heard this song but it still gives me goosebumps today. Alan Jackson wrote this and performed this song less than a week after September 11. These words still ring very true to me.
Lyrics:
Where were you when the world stopped turning
On that cold September day,
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Or workin on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock
At the sight of that black smoke risin’ against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger and fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry
Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who dont know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
Did you burst out in pride for the red white and blue
And the heros who died just doin what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters
*Chorus*
Im just a singer of simple songs
Im not a real political man
I watch CNN but im not sure i can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
I know Jesus and i talk to god
And i remember this from when i was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love
Where were you when the world stopped turning
On that cold September day
Teachin’ a class full of innocent children
Or driving dow some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you’re a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages
Or speak to some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out an buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you’re watchin’
And turn on ‘I Love Lucy’ re-runs
Did you go to church and hold hands with some stangers
And stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love
So please share with me the answers to the questions in the song. Lets not forget!! and I will share what I did!
Where were you that September day?
I was at work
What did you originally think?
I thought that it was a terrible accident because I was naive enough to this no one would do something this awful on purpose.
Did you go home to your family? I went straight from my work (who closed after this happened) to my parents place and we all cried, hugged and sat together on the couch holding hands in disbelief.
What did you do for 9/11? Give blood?, Donate food?
My friend and I actually planned a trip to New York we were going to leave a week after 9/11, but at that time they said they has so many people helping they couldn’t accept more people at that time. That was staggering to me! It made me feel proud to live in a country that has SO much help they didn’t have more space for more.
What have you done differently since then?
The day before this happened I rented a movie I thought I really wanted to see. I knew it was a violent movie but it looked like a good movie. I returned it to the store that awful night having never watched it. Since then I think much more about the violence there is in the world and try to pick less violence in the movies I see.
We will NEVER forget!

I was at work in the largest Federal building in Chicago. You know I was scared. Anyway, lets remember all the victims that day from the Pentagon, the victims on the planes to those in the twin towers. God Bless America.

I was the manager of the fitness center that was in the basement and we didn’t have TV’s at that time. My sister and my girlfriend called and told me what was going on and said to find a tele. I asked one of the members and he let me go into his office on the 37 floor. When I got there, I called my girlfriend and she said the buildings were leaning and then she said to get back to the basement. LOL I couldn’t close the fitness center, I had a jerk USA attorney who wouldn’t get off the treadmill and was like what’s the big deal. I really got scared when an FBI agent was like, “I’m getting the hell out of here because they just hit the Pentagon”. At that time, I told the stupid USA attorney to get off of the treadmill and I’m closing. He wasn’t to happy about it. By the time I got through to my parents on my way home, I told my mom, “I heard the buildings are leaning”, and then my mom said, “No, the buildings are gone”. I missed all of the drama and saw it after the fact. The next week the USA attorney saw me and apologized because he didn’t really understand what was really going on. I think some people are book smart but definitely not street smart.

I will never forget. It is just so unbelievable an event that happened. We were so sure that the homeland would never be attacked, and it showed us it can be, and that we should all be prepared for it.

My office was located inside an auto auction. We heard a plane crashed into a skyscraper in NYC. We were saddened. It wasn’t until we heard the second plane crashed into the other tower that we knew this was no accident. We were all immediately terrified! Is this war being launched on our country, our home, our lovely USA? There was a nice room set up in the ladies restroom, a lovely sitting room complete with rocking chairs, loveseats and a television. There we all stood, men and women, holding our breaths as it all unfolded.
